Curling wand (Curling Iron) Hints and tips

A few weeks ago we blogged about how to use a curling wand (curling iron) to create perfect curls.

I think it’s fair to say that more people find using a curling wand difficult than using hair straighteners for example.

However, we believe that once you have a good step by step guide and with plenty of practice, you can then become confident in

creating a variety of gorgeous curls and hair styles.

Below are some further hints and tips to help you create a variety of beautiful looks!

  • Using a smaller section of hair will result in a tighter curl; a large section of hair will give a looser curl.
  • If you want a wavy effect and looser curls then apply the wand to a wider section of hair.
  • For a more modern look don’t wind the barrel from the root, leave a couple of inches from the root.
  • By using a lower heat setting, you can create a wavy style with looser curls.
  • If you want a ribbon curl affect then apply the wand to a narrow section of that runs vertically.
  • Wrap the curl in the same direction that you want the curl to fall. E.g. if you’re curling the hair on the left side of your parting and want a look that’s full of volume, wrap the hair away from the face when applying it around the curling wand.
  • Use a good heat protecting spray to protect the hair from the heat of the barrel.

How To Curl Your Hair With Ice Diamond Curling wand (curling iron)

Today we are going to tell you How To Curl Your Hair with a curling wand !
Whether you want to create a wavy effect or luscious ringlet curls,  follow this simple step by step guide for fantastic, effortless results!
  1. Make sure your hair is clean; wash it if you need to. Make sure your hair is totally dry before applying the curling wand.Brush your hair to rid it of knots.
  2.  Plug your curling wand into a power socket.  Press the power button on the wand to let it heat up. You can choose the exact heat setting your hair requires on the Ice Diamond Digital Wand 80-230C.  Higher heat will be required for thicker hair types.
  3.  The Ice Diamond Digital curling wand comes with gloves. A glove will protect your hand from burning when you are holding your hair on the wand.It is worn on the hand that is not holding the curler. It is advised that you use your dominant hand to hold the wand and glove on the other hand that will be used to wrap your hair around the wand.
  4.  Separate your hair into six parts. First, divide your hair evenly into top and bottom layers. Then divide those layers into three parts each:the back of your head, and the two sides. Apply a ponytail holder and clips to make six small ponytails. Clip all three of the top layers to thetop of your head and clip the two bottom side layers to the top as well. You should only have the lower back of the head section loose.Take out any clips or ponytail holders in this section.
  5. Hold the wand in your dominant hand by the handle part. Hold it at a downward angle; a common mistake people make is to hold it upwards.
  6. Wrap the hair around the wand. Start from the roots and wrap from the base of the wand and work your way to the tip of the hair. For loose curls, don’t wrap the hair too tightly. Don’t wrap all the hair around the wand; leave a small bit out in order to prevent the curl springing up strangely after you’re done curling.
  7. Hold the hair in place using your hand for roughly 10 seconds. Do not hold the hair on the wand for too long, ceramic wands get very hot!
  8. Slide the curling wand out of your hair, making sure you have the curl in your hand. Don’t just unravel the hair to free it. You may find it useful to hold the curl in your hand to help it set.
  9. Repeat curling for the other sections of your hair. You may find it difficult to curl the hair at the back of your head; look carefully in the mirror.
  10. After you’ve finished curling all of your hair, use your hands to gently move the hair around – this will give your hair a more natural look.
  11. Spray your hair lightly with some hairspray to set your curls in place.
  12. Remember to turn off your curling wand after you’ve finished.
